It would be great to have different i18n labels for the same field depending on the context it is used.
E.g. I might want use an abbreviated field label for flags to not make the columns use too much space. However in the general single record view there is more space and a full label name works fine.
A product object might have an identifier field which is a numeric value. So the form field to add/edit as well as the single record view might label it Product Number or Product Identifier, whereas within the grid you just want to display a hashmark ('#').
An event object might have a field labelled "Minimum capacity reached" which is a flag displaying the standard preside yes/no icons (checkmark vs. red cross). Within the grid listing you might want to use an abbreviation, e.g. Min. Cap.
An additional optional tooltip for grid listing would help.
